How this benchmark works

Latency is HTTP round-trip time; it is not bandwidth. Download is server → browser throughput and upload is browser → server throughput. Final Mbps is total measured bytes × 8 ÷ measured seconds ÷ 1,000,000. MB/s is Mbps ÷ 8. Upload bytes are counted in the final result only after the PHP endpoint confirms the bytes were received and written to its disk-backed scratch file.
